The body first responsible for these records was the Audiovisual Planning Committee. This committee later became the Audiovisual Planning and Development Division of the Curriculum Department in 1984. This division became the Audiovisual Department in 1991. Mary Ellen Smoot served as Relief Society general president from 1997-2002. Prior to this she served with her husband as directors of Church Hosting Services under the Public Affairs Department from 1993-1997. She also served with her husband while he was president of the Ohio Columbus Mission from 1983-1984 and Ohio Akron Mission from 1984-1986.
